Android Wear 2.0, runs independently of the phone

Android Wear 2.0, released next month, runs independently of the phone

Jeff Chang, product manager at Google Android Wear, said the company will launch two new flagship smartwatches in the first quarter of next year and will be the first smartwatch to hit Android Wear 2.0.
Although the rumors of Google's new smart watch has always been, but this release also shows that it is to persuade consumers, there is still the need for smart watches.
Allegedly, the new smart watch will not use Google or Pixel brand, but with the manufacturer's brand name. Chang said that Google is working with a manufacturer (but not specifically who but has previously worked together) on hardware design and software integration, just as the company does on Nexus watches.
Existing Android Wear watches will also be able to be upgraded to Android Wear 2.0 after the new device is released. The new platform has many new features, including applications that do not require a phone to work independently, support for Android Pay, support for Google's Virtual Voice Assistant and more. These are also consistent with previous reports from Lei Feng Network.
However, not every older device can be updated because new features like Android Pay have specific hardware support. Google will release the fifth and final developer preview of Android Wear 2.0 in January. It will also be compatible with iOS devices, but the experience on both platforms is still different. It is noteworthy that, Android Pay both platforms are supported.
Google said that after the release of their smart watches, other partners will also launch new devices that support Android Wear 2.0.
Although the smart watch market is still in its infancy, it seems that Apple is already in the lead. Its competitors now appear to be only Samsung, and are not using Google's system. Fitbit is a leader in wearable devices, and shortly before Leifeng Net (public number: Lei Feng Network) reported that its acquisition of Pebble, it seems that smart watches are also very optimistic. In contrast, Google, Android Wear for two and a half years, but no particularly dazzling results.
Chang said the smart watch is very optimistic, and that "this is a marathon, rather than sprint, this category will always be with us."
